The ni-Vanuatu 26/09/06:
The outgoing Technical Director and National Coach of Vanuatu Juan
Carlos Buzzetti, has said that he would be able to give detailed
information about his next move next week. However he maintains that for legal reasons he would not dwell on the issue an further. Meanwhile Carlos says he would be able to make a few serious statements about his next assignment or contract by next week. |
"The time frame I gave VFF for my
termination of contract ends this weekend, so I would be able to say
more next week", he explains.
Carlos say he will be leaving Vanuatu with his head high, knowing that
he has helped put a structure in place, and that he has confidence in
those coaches with whom he had worked in the past seven years.
"That is life for people in this kind of job.... today you are in one
place, the next time you will be somewhere else... but for me I will
always take Vanuatu in my heart wherever I go. My wife is a ni-Vanuatu,
our daughter was born here... so no matter what, I know I will always
come back to settle here", Carlos says.
It is not yet clear as to which federation would take in the man who no
doubt brought Vanuatu Football to new heights, and most importantly
winning the attention and approval of the international football family.
The Vanuatu youth teams are regarded as some of the best in the region.
Among various achievements, Carlos has led Vanuatu to winning the Bronze
in the South Pacific Games in Fiji in 2003.
Fiji had at one stage to sign Carlos in when his first four year
contract ended with VFF ended in 2003. With his designed development
programmes already being implemented throughout Oceania, Carlos would
find not problem in fitting in to any team in the region.
But his only regret is the idea of him having to play against Vanuatu if
he remained in the region.
"I have raised these players over the past years you know... I value
very much the players and those coaches and people that I have worked
with. And that will not change", Carlos says.
Carlos is planning to move on with his wife Betsie and baby daugher
Jade.
